The April 19th Conference Development outreach dinner in Coarsegold, CA. brought over 30 members and guests to Chukchansi Resort and Casino. This was followed by a tour of the Southern California Edison Science Day’s camp, Central Sierra Historical Society Museum and company timberlands in Shaver Lake, CA.

This meeting was the second in a series of outreach events conducted by the Conference Development Committee. The goal is to expand SCLC’s participation throughout the region. Attendees are provided with a wide range of opportunities to participate in the conference. The of Board of Directors is interested in expanding the number of venue locations for in-woods tours and expanding participation in the scholarship program. Expanding both of these programs require the involvement of individuals in the local communities where we intend to introduce these programs. The purpose of the outreach meeting is to solicit volunteers for committees that plan in-woods tours and administer the scholarship program.

As the result of the Lincoln outreach meeting, SCLC created a Mid-Sierra In-Woods Tour committee lead by Jeff Holland and Robert Hoover. Money was budgeted at the spring in May 2017 to support the Mid-Sierra In-Woods Tour. Also, we had several new directors from the Grass Valley/Lincoln/Placerville area work with local High Schools on providing scholarships for graduating 2017 seniors in the mid sierra area.

We hope to have similar success with our other outreach programs with regard to involving new people in the conference.
